Why HD/LD/HD three-layer film matters

A garbage bag fails in two ways: it tears when a sharp edge pushes through the film, or it splits when the load pulls the film apart. HDPE gives stiffness and tensile strength; LLDPE gives puncture and tear resistance. A single-layer bag has to be thick enough to cover both.

How co-extrusion works

Co-extrusion blows three layers at once — HDPE on the outside, LDPE in the core, HDPE inside. The HDPE skins give stiffness and tensile strength, and the softer core gives elasticity and tear resistance. The combined film behaves like a thicker mono-layer bag.

What it means for your resin cost

In practice, our HD/LD/HD 45 L bags (G3E41–G3E43) run at 16–25 µm. A thinner film uses less resin per bag, which lowers the cost per unit and puts less plastic into the waste stream, with no change in how the bag is used.

Three-layer film is also the base of our Box Series C3 dispensers, and a two-layer HD/LD version is available as the G2 range. Ask for samples to compare against your current specification.
